It has been drilled in my head since I was a little girl that you do not go to bed without washing your face especially if you wear makeup. But if you’re tired from the day’s events, it can be hard to motivate yourself to wash it all off. According to researchers at the University of California-Irvine, new skin cells grow faster while you sleep, so a good evening facial routine should be a high priority.
I find that the one night I don't wash my face is the one night that ruins it for me. I'll wake up with a blemish especially if I fall asleep with makeup on.
A serious cleansing routine can involve a makeup remover, various cleansers, a face scrub and a toner.
Face
I've been using my Clarisonic in combination with Circ Cell Mandarin Cleansing Milk which leaves my skin feeling clean. The citrus is a perfect pick me up after a long day at work and licorice root and Vitamin C neutralize and rehydrate environmentally damaged skin by removing impurities.
Once a week I will begin my night time routine with a mask. Lately, I’ve been using Circ-Cell Red Algae Clarifying Mask. It contains red algae, which is loaded with antioxidants, and various botanical oils. It also has TTO, grape seed, thyme, lavender and grapefruit oils, and is best for people who have acne-prone or combination skin.
When it comes to moisturizing your face, use a night cream. More specifically use Mario Badescu’s Seaweed Night Cream. This is the best night cream… period! This night cream will not only refresh the delicate skin on your face and décolletage, it will also work to fight wrinkles, dryness and uneven skin tone. Add it right after you’ve cleansed so the cream can readily be absorbed.
Body
Cinq Monde’s Papaya Puree Shower Scrub restores radiance and softness to the skin. Thanks to the natural extracts of Papaya, Coconut powder, Diatomaceous Earth and Kemiri oil, the shower scrub gently cleanses and purifies the skin. Purée de Papaye exfoliates, refines and brightens the complexion. Ideal for sensitive skin. The act of exfoliating should also help with blood flow to your skin which will promote a better sleep. Just don’t overdo it. A couple of times a week is just right, anything more might irritate your skin.
Hands and Feet
The skin on your hands and feet can get a lot of wear and tear so pay extra attention to these areas or use a specialized hand or foot cream for added benefits. You can even go the extra mile and pop on cotton socks after applying your cream to help it sink into your skin.
Trilipiderm has created a line of hydrating, all-body moisturizing products that promote both the repair and reconstruction of damaged, dry skin. The active ingredients moisturize skin to help solve dryness and prevent its return. Not only will your skin’s tone, texture and elasticity appear improved, Trilipiderm will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft.
Lips
Chapped or dry lips covered in drying lipstick all day calls for a moisture boost at night. Apply Beauty Bakerie Sugar Lip Scrub before bed and let it soothe and moisturize your lips so they’re nice and supple in the am.
Thanks for the tips. I always make sure that I wash my face in the evening, even on days when I don’t have make-up on.
I’m loving your posts all the way from South Africa.
Regards,
